You Are Not Behind
April 12
One of the most damaging thoughts people carry is the belief that they are somehow behind in life.
Behind in their career.
Behind in relationships.
Behind in purpose.
Social media has made this feeling even stronger. We constantly see curated snapshots of other people’s milestones and progress, and it can quietly create the impression that everyone else is moving forward while we are standing still.
But life doesn’t actually work that way.
Growth is not linear.
There are seasons of movement and seasons of preparation. There are moments when doors open quickly and moments when everything feels quiet and uncertain.
What we often call “being behind” is sometimes simply a season where deeper work is happening beneath the surface.
Sometimes it’s a season where God is reshaping your identity so that when opportunity comes, you’re able to carry it well.
Sometimes it’s a season where your thinking is being renewed so that you stop operating from fear and start moving from clarity.
Sometimes it’s simply a time where patience is doing its quiet work.
The truth is, you are not competing with anyone else’s timeline.
Your life is unfolding according to a story that is uniquely yours.
Instead of asking, “Why am I behind?”
A better question might be:
“What is this season trying to teach me?”
Because the lessons learned in quiet seasons often become the foundation for everything that follows.
